I think it's silly for people to think they know the answer to this. We haven't had these items long enough to measure impacts. Even if they are detrimental in some ways, they must be beneficial in others. I general I distrust blanket prognostications such as these without very clear reasons.

Most of all I have faith in the brain developing properly no matter what the heck happens. Different doesn't mean bad. And maybe our brains should get wired differently in this new world we live in.

No crash - just noting that I'm not prepared for one. And I should be because I know better. And if I'm not and I know better, then who the heck actually does this regularly enough?

Abe, When I told Tynne about Isa's laptop she mentioned that current guidelines suggest that younguns are supposed to be shielded from all TV, computer and other electronic screen etc use until age (5?). Latest recommendations etc for brain development. What do you think? Mom

Completely agree - wireless networking is the perfect case study in stupidity. Why should humans be subjected to such bad software? It's not home networking if it doesn't work safely, securely, and simply in the average home.

You know what else grinds my gears? Cable companies installing cable modems with a single ethernet cable into the back of a Windows machine. That's like asking for a huge botnet of zombie computers. Why not build a simple NAT router into every cable modem? That must exist for $1, would hardly impact the price. That alone would probably prevent most of the botnets.
